Music - Community Orchestra

The UMF Community Orchestra, conducted by Trond Saeverud, is open to community and UMF instrumentalists of all levels who are joined by a few professional musicians to present programs from the orchestral repertoire. Their programs include a wide range of works such as Baroque chamber pieces for small string ensemble to large-scale compositions for full symphonic orchestra and contemporary works for various combination of instruments. In their spring 2008 concert, the UMF Community Orchestra presented the world premiere of Driving in Maine a work for solo soprano and chamber orchestra, written by Maine composer Nancy Gunn. The UMF Community Orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evenings. Students can play in the orchestra for credit or non-credit.
