Dance

The dance program at UMF offers classes in Body Work, Modern Dance and Composition. Classes explore the integration of the body, mind, and spirit as well as artistic expression.

Students who have participated in the dance program for all four years at the University of Maine at Farmington have gone on to receive masters degrees in Dance Therapy. These students have attended Naropa University, Antioch New England, Goucher College and Hunter College. In addition, several students have created individualized majors with a dance emphasis. A dance minor is still pending. Dance Education, Modern Dance and Composition, Choreography, Bodywork and Intermediate Modern Dance are now consistently offered in addition to the University of Maine at Farmington Dancers course.

Several students are dancing in companies in various American cities. Many UMF Dancers are teaching dance, yoga, Pilates, stress management, dance for children and currently working as dance therapists.
